Ghibli Park Unveils First Official Photos

Posted on October 23, 2022May 26, 2023 by Claire

With less than a month to the grand opening of the Ghibli Park on 1st November 2022, the crew have shared these official photos of Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse. The Grand Warehouse is one of the five areas of the park opening in November. Also opening are the Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest areas. Mononoke Village and the Witch’s Valley will open later in 2023.

These photos give us a peak into the carefully curated exhibitions, playgrounds and cafes of the Warehouse. We can also see the beautiful video exhibition room. The Grand Warehouse is said to have a floor area of about 9,600 square metres. This is four times as large as the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo!

Cinema Orion is a 170-seat video exhibition room that will screen all 10 short animated films produced by Studio Ghibli. Normally, you can only see these at the Ghibli Museum. These films will be screened in rotation, with a new film being shown each month. Favourites like Mei and the Kittenbus and The Whale Hunt will be on the bill!

The Transcontinental Flight Cafe has sandwiches and pizzas on the menu. Siberi ❆ An Milk Stand offers locally produced milk in bottles with original designs. It also serves a sweet called ‘Siberia’, made of red bean paste sandwiched between two slices of sponge cake, as seen in The Wind Rises.

In the exhibition area, you’ll find food scenes dedicated to films such as Earwig and the Witch and From Up on Poppy Hill. There will also be interactive sets for amazing photo opportunities, and a huge range of sights and displays from all of our favourite Ghibli movies. These include Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbour Totoro, the Secret World of Arrietty, and Spirited Away.
