Entry Requirements

VISA

If you are an EU or UK national and own a valid passport, you are able to stay in Canada for up to 6 months. You don’t need a visa, but you will need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) to board your flight. It costs $7 CAD.

Coronavirus

Passengers arriving in Canada currently do not need to show proof of COVID vaccination, a negative COVID test, or a certificate of recovery from COVID.

When to visit

The best time to visit Canada is in Autumn, as the weather is cool but comfortable, and the changing leaves provide a beautiful backdrop to the scenery. Try travelling between September and November.

Generally, public toilets are free to use in Canada, however some found in malls or other tourist places may charge, so it’s worth carrying around a little pocket change in case you cannot pay by card.

Is tipping expected in Canada?

When tipping serving staff, it’s customary to add 15-20% to the bill.

There is some dangerous wildlife in Canada, including the Io moth caterpillar and the Asian giant hornet, the massasauga and northern pacific rattlesnake, the black widow spider, the Portuguese Man O’War jellyfish, and bigger animals such as grizzly bears, moose, cougars and wolves. Always research the area you’re travelling to, to see if there’s anything there that might pose a threat to you.
